Record number at Green Open Homes 2019

November 24, 2019 By Cara Jenkinson Leave a Comment

A record number of visitors gained inspiration from our sixth Green Open Homes event to make their own homes more sustainable.  Despite the wet November weather, 150 visits were made over two weekend days to eight homes in Muswell Hill, Crouch End, Alexandra Park, Tottenham and Highgate.

Muswell Hill Sustainability Group’s Green Open Homes 2019

Showcasing state-of-the-art insulation, draughtproofing and renewable energy systems, visitors heard first hand from householders how to make eco improvements, recommendations of reliable suppliers and installers (see our ‘Green installers’ page for contacts), and tips on budgeting.
Student TV journalists Sarah Higgs and Petrana Zemanova from City University filmed tours at two MHSG members’ homes, showing how changes to different house styles can reap big carbon and money cuts.
MHSG can help further: – our Green Homeowner Pack gives advice on planning a house makeover – email info@mhsgroup.org for details.  – our volunteer Thermal Imaging Group members can survey your home and make suggestions for improvements.- for those interested in using wood as a renewable alternative fuel to gas, our ‘Woodstove Wisdom’ evenings can advise – the next date (in a MHSG member’s home) is Tuesday 21st January, 7pm – book your free place at info@mhsgroup.org.
