If you have 10 halogen downlighters in your kitchen you could be spending over £100 per year on electricity. LED lighting offers an 85% reduction on energy usage. Gone are the days when LEDs produced an unpleasant blueish light – they are now available in Warm White tones and are good replacements for halogens. They also last much longer – over 20 years – so you won’t be forever replacing lights that have popped. LEDs are more expensive, but they’ll pay back in less than 2 years.
You can now buy good LED bulbs at many retailers. Check out Ryness and John Lewis.
