Green Open Homes 2022

Gain inspiration for your home at FREE events in our ninth Green Open Homes season this October.  Add comfort, cut carbon and reduce energy bills with up-to-date insulation, draughtproofing, heating and renewable energy.  We can advise too on trustworthy local builders and installers.

TUESDAY 4TH OCTOBER

Talk: Why has the price of energy shot up? 

Insights from Prof Mark Barrett, UCL, on the impact of recent geo-political events on gas and electricity prices. Prof Barrett has 30 years’ experience modelling and developing policies for energy and transport systems to meet environmental and economic objectives. He lectures at UCL on energy security, environmental systems, energy context and European energy scenarios.

Circular timber frame, cob and straw building constructed using natural building methods and sustainably sourced or reclaimed materials.

TUESDAY 11th OCTOBER

Talk: Retrofit Essentials (In person and online)

Dermot Barnes’ talk will cover the essentials of how to set about improving the energy efficiency of a flat or house – where to start, what to prioritise, the best value interventions and how to navigate the complexities.

Josie Evetts from Ecofurb will also be talking about their service, including Whole House Plans.

Talk: Easy Energy Saving at Home

Interactive talk by Alex Hartley of Energias on what we can all do to save energy at home. Applies to tenants and homeowners alike. Alex has many years delivering energy projects, with a particular focus on energy saving and fuel poverty.

TUESDAY 25TH OCTOBER:

Talk: Two architects talk about their deep retrofit projects in Muswell Hill (ONLINE)

Natalie Black of Enbee Architecture and Design, is working on a deep retrofit on Muswell Hill Road. This is a whole house responsible retrofit with the lowest carbon solutions throughout.

Jeremy Stacey, of Jeremy Stacey Architects, has completed the retrofit of 9 Alexandra Road.
