Speaker meeting – Tuesday 14 November at 7.30pm
with Steve Simpson
Associate Professor in Marine Biology & Global Change, University of Exeter
Enthralled by David Attenborough’s ‘Blue Planet II’?
Come to this free illustrated talk from a leading marine scientist and Blue Planet II contributor
Professor Simpson’s research on the effects of climate change on fish and of human-made noise on life in the oceans has gained wide publicity recently. Rising sea temperatures are changing the composition of our catches around the UK. Meanwhile human noise pollution is affecting communication, reproduction and survival in many of the fish we cherish or depend upon for fisheries. In this talk, we will be taken on an underwater adventure to celebrate life beneath the waves, examine the environmental threats to marine creatures, and explore potential solutions to improve the Future of the Oceans. |
