Midsummer Muswell – 25th June

June 7, 2016 By Cara Jenkinson Leave a Comment

Despite torrential showers, we spoke to lots of people at our stall at Midsummer Muswell, who completed our green lifestyle prize quiz and found out about MHSG and all we do. Midsummer Muswell, brainchild of MHSG supporter Deanna Bogdanovich has been running for two years and is a great opportunity to celebrate our community, musical and artistic talent and … [Read more...]

After Paris – prospects for action on climate change here and abroad

January 10, 2016 By Cara Jenkinson 2 Comments

I’ve been involved with local sustainability for over 6 years, chairing MHSG for the last four.  After participating in a number of projects to make our local area more sustainable, I decided to do an MSc in the Economics and Policy of Energy and the Environment at UCL, which I started last September. Haringey climate groups, including MHSG are calling on Haringey Council to divest their pension funds from coal and tar sands - two of the most dirty … [Read more...]

The campaign against plastic bags was one of the first that Muswell Hill Sustainability Group ran, back in 2009 - take a look at our photo to see some familiar faces! On 5th October the new plastic bag charge comes in - 5p per bag.  In Wales where a bag charge was introduced in 2011, usage of plastic bags has dropped by over 70%. We will be running a street stall outside … [Read more...]

Midsummer Muswell

Midsummer Muswell, a festival to name the new square outside Planet Organic was a fantastic success. Deanna Bogdanovich and the Muswellites pulled another organisational tour de force again! Muswell Hill Sustainability Group had a very professional looking stall and talked to lots of people about our activities, forthcoming events and the Haringey Divestment petition. You … [Read more...]
