MHSG supports Haringey Council’s move to fortnightly waste collections

February 19, 2012 By Admin 1 Comment

There's a lot of griping about the council's move to fortnightly collections. Some people just don't like change, and others will do anything for the environment short of...well, actually doing something. Local Friends of the Earth groups have issued a statement in support of the move, which says: "We welcome the Council’s move to introduce fortnightly collections for … [Read more...]

So roll up with your bags, shovels and spades and dig in. Compost … [Read more...]

Electric bikes in the Low Carbon Zone

September 9, 2011 By Admin 3 Comments

This is, in appearance, a conventional bike, not to be confused with the modish Boris Bike, and handles as such. But it also has a battery-powered booster that can be engaged to get … [Read more...]

Back to Schools

September 3, 2011 By Admin 1 Comment

In the UK, schools account for over 50% of carbon emissions by local authorities. So for our 40:20 campaign here in Haringey, the Council wants schools to cut their carbon emissions by 50% by 2015 – a very ambitious target. Schools have big budgets for energy – £100k a year for a secondary school, and £30k a year for a primary. Saving energy saves money. So installing … [Read more...]
